Point Reyes Service Day

10/11/14 Sat (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
Point Reyes National Seashore
, Olema
Contact:Corrine Kirkbride (crkirkbride[at]gmail[dot]com)

Join NorCal and the National Parks Service in one of NorCal’s longest running traditions of service. This biannual event (April and October of every year) is one of our most popular service events where you can enjoy the company of RPCVs of all ages fixing trails at one of America’s most scenic seashores and enjoy a BBQ at day’s end. Corrine Kirkbride (North Bay Director, Vanuatu 2001-2003) will be helping coordinate the October event. RSVPs are needed as this event does fill up completely. Please RSVP to Corrine.

Meet at the red barn on your left as you turn off Bear Valley road, which is near Sir Francis Drake Blvd and Hwy 1 in Olema. If you are using Google Maps, put in "Bear Valley Visitor Center, 1 Bear Valley Rd, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956." You will see the red barn as you turn onto the Bear Valley Visitor Center Access Road. You can park in the small lot near the barn, or up further near the picnic area across from the visitor center where the end of day picnic/BBQ will be. Gloves, work shirts and tools provided. You bring water and snack for the work part.

We will be having a picnic when the work is through. NorCal will provide a main dish item. Please bring drinks for yourself and something to share at the picnic.

Note: New Volunteer Coordinator Needed

Doug Haner and his wife Bonnie have been hosting this event twice a year for over a decade and will be passing the torch to a new generation. We need a volunteer coordinator to help continue to make this a successful and fun event, or two volunteers, one to take the spring event and one to take the fall event. Duties include tracking RSVPs, answering volunteer questions, liaison with Park Staff and bringing burgers for the picnic at the end of the work day, or helping coordinate some other food potluck. NorCal will reimburse expenses. Learn more about coordinator responsibilities at the October event.
