Postponed: Advancing Your Career: Approaches, Possibilities, and Dilemmas

28 Sep 2019
9:30am - 12:30pm PDT

We have to postpone this event, but thanks to Jerry for his work on this.

This workshop is an opportunity to talk with other returned Peace Corps volunteers about managing and developing your career. Bring your questions, your hopes and dreams, doubts and worries, and that which calls to you. We will focus on asking questions and exploring your personal options, for example:

  • What exactly do we mean by “career”;
  • What are some strategies for seeking a promotion;
  • How can changing one’s job or even career be more of an asset and less a
  • liability;
  • Is being self-employed a job or ones career?

We will work together to define specific approaches and action plans, and provide tools and strategies as needed.

Workshop facilitator: Jerry Garfield, MSW

Organization consultant and career coach, Jerry served as a Peace Corps volunteer teacher-trainer in South India, and as a Peace Corps Cross-Cultural Training Officer for South India and Western Samoa. He has enjoyed five careers and been employed by and consulted to non-profits, private corporations, and government institutions, leading to 25 years as an organization consultant, leadership/management coach, and career coach. For five years, Jerry provided career coaching throughout Northern California with the State’s Employment Development Department.
