Festival of Cultures and Annual General Meeting

28 Jan 2017
3:00pm - 6:00pm PST

Registration for this event has passed

Get ready for the Northern California Peace Corps Association's 2017 Festival of Cultures and Annual General Meeting!

Our bylaws require us to hold an Annual General Meeting, where we will elect Board Directors and vote on the Proposed ByLaws Changes (electronic voting open through 01/27) and transact other business. Then we have a big, international party we call the Festival of Cultures to reunite and celebrate the countries where we served and the experiences we had serving in them.

Our theme this time will be Peace Corps Life, so everyone who attends will have a chance to be sworn-in, do volunteer work (by attending the general meeting), enjoy various aspects of Peace Corps life (by sampling the food at the international potluck and learning about other cultures during our Festival of Cultures), and COS at the end!

Ticket options
There are four ticket options. You may choose more than one ticket type per person. Get your tickets here.

  1. Bring a potluck item: Bring a potluck food item (preferably international, but not required) to serve at least 6 people. Please register your food items here. It’s ok if you don’t know exactly which dish you’ll bring yet, just tell us the type of dish you will bring to help us avoid winding up with too many desserts, for example, and not enough other dishes.
  2. Volunteer at the event for 1 hour: Volunteer at the Annual General Meeting or Festival of Cultures for at least 1 hour! Volunteering options include helping to setup (1:00PM – 2:30PM) and/or tear down (6:00PM – 7:00PM) the event, manning the registration or volunteering tables, hosting a country table for the festival, miscellaneous help during the event, and your own ideas of how to help! If you choose this option, please email AGM@NorCalPCA.org with your volunteering preferences.
  3. Donate to NorCalPCA’s General Fund
  4. Bring your smile: Can’t bring a potluck item, volunteer, or donate? No problem! Please come anyway! All are welcome!

Show off your host-country dress!
Come dressed in clothing from your country of service or in a Peace Corps shirt (preferred, but not required)!

Host a Country Table
Please email AGM@NorCalPCA.org if you can bring mementos, photos, and your stories to host a table featuring your country of service for the Festival of Cultures!

Transportation
The nearest BART station is the 16th St. Mission Station, which is half a mile away. If you plan to drive, consider using Spothero.com or similar service in advance to reserve a paid space nearby as parking in the area can be challenging.

Coming from Out of Town?
Stay overnight with us at the San Francisco City Center Hostel and enjoy breakfast with fellow RPCVs the following morning before you head out well fed, well rested, and having met new friends. Email AGM@NorCalPCA.org to reserve your spot with us in the hostel!

Hope to see you there!
