40th Where There Is No Doctor

9/19/13 Thu (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
David Brower Center
2150 Allston Way , Berkeley
Contact:Michelle Nguyen (michelle@hesperian.org)

40 years ago, in a remote hamlet in Mexico’s Sierra Madre, hours from the nearest clinic, health workers and villagers created a manual of guidelines for dealing with common medical problems and emergencies. This was the start of Where There Is No Doctor, considered today to be one of the world’s greatest public health manuals.

Since then, Hesperian Health Guides has created a library of books that continues the philosophy of health pioneered by Where There Is No Doctor. These books are supported by countless longstanding relationships with field testing and translation partners, and are augmented by an online resource center that helps health workers worldwide address new health challenges. On Thursday, September 19th, please join Hesperian in celebrating 40 incredible years with Where There Is No Doctor!
Please RSVP by September 12th at http://wtndanniversary.eventbrite.com/
