Support Girls, Support the World Concert

Last Update: 10/14/2013 10:28 PM

Thanks to everyone who came out and contributed to our first ever Support Girls, Support the World benefit concert on October 5th. We raised $2,000 which will be shared between the NorCal Grants program and Bay Area Girls Rock Camp.

Amanda Pease and Heather White

The day was filled with great music from Sarah Jaye, Heather Strange, Waiting Room and, Surreal Estate. Among the bands were a number RPCV artists: Heather White (Mali 03-05), Amanda Pease (Sierra Leone 10-12) and Socorra Camposanto (Morocco 10-12). In addition to these great artists, we recognize the talents of Bryan Lemos (Honduras 09-11) our event photographer, Alan Toth (South Africa 10-12) our videographer and the dozens of other volunteers who helped out. You can see Bryan’s photos on our Flickr page and Alan’s work on the NorCal Youtube channel.

This was a massive undertaking and NorCal appreciates the vision and the tons of hours that Socorra Camposanto and Sharon Heiny (Ukraine 09-10) poured into this event. Sharon is also our San Francisco rep on the board and the Editor-in-Chief of our monthly eNewsletter and annual paper newsletter. You don’t get any busier than that!

Concert T-Shirts are now on sale for $10 (shipping included) and posters for $5. All remaining sales will go to the Grants Program. If interested, please contact Sharon Heiny at sharon.heiny[at]gmail[dot]com.
