Clean Water

We often take it for granted that we have fresh, clean water to drink. It often comes out of a faucet where we live.

RPCVs know that is not often the case in many locations around the world.  The Commonwealth Club will be hosting a Clean Water Panel on October 22 at 6 PM.  The information has been posted and please RSVP on the Commonwealth Club web site:  It is free and donations are accepted.

Frank Price RPCV Côte d’Ivoire, NPCA East Bay Board Rep will be the moderator.  The Clean  Water panel consists of:

Jon Kaufman, Director of H2OpenDoors,, This is a project of Rotary clubs worldwide, and the CEO of Global Water First, a social impact investment corporation. Supported by charitable contributions in the former, and investment dollars in the latter, Jon brings together the best-in-class providers of water purification, Smart solar nanogrids and satellite internet technologies to create water & power hubs. The most impoverished villages throughout the world are mentored on creating enterprise through these unique approaches, fostering self reliance rather than continual dependence.

Averil Strasser of Water Charity, is 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping people access clean drinking water and improved sanitation. In our 14 years, Water Charity has done more than 6000 water, sanitation, and public health projects in 78 countries.  Averil is an RPCV who served in Bolivia.  In addition, Water Charity is a proud supporter and and partner of the National Peace Corps  Association.
