Cockroaches, Scholastique Mukasonga's memoir of her childhood in Rwanda, begins in the 1960s, as Hutus slowly deported Tutsis from the country, and ends with her attempt to find the graves of 37 of her family members, following the few months of genocide as we know it, in 1994.

We had planned to meet at Miliki, but unfortunately it's permanently closed, so take-out and delivery are impossible. When you RSVP, I'll provide you a set of recipes from Rwanda, whose cuisine is a fusion of West African and East African.
