Join us for a weekend adventure in Big Sur! Together, we will enjoy camping on a magnificent hillside overlooking the world-class Big Sur coastline, plus communal meals, campfires, fun activities, and so much more. Thank you to RPCV and former Congressman Sam Farr (Colombia ‘64-’66) and his wife Shary for generously allowing us access to their beautiful property for this event, and to John Bost and the entire planning committee for coordinating the details.
Below you will find some preliminary information. We will send out more information to all attendees in September, including logistical info, what to bring, and links to sign up for volunteer tasks, optional activities, and carpooling. Please note that all attendees will be expected to help out for at least 1 volunteer task, i.e. helping to cook one meal during the weekend, bringing ice or other supplies on Friday, setting up lawn games, etc.
WHEN: Friday afternoon, October 27th until Sunday morning, October 29th. We recommend joining for the whole weekend if you can, but there are also ticket options for Friday-Saturday only, Saturday-Sunday only, or just Saturday (no overnight).
WHERE: Point 16 in Big Sur (if you google Lucia Lodge, Point 16 is a few minutes past there; more specific driving directions and details will be shared closer to the event).
WHO: RPCVs and their family members ages 13+ are welcome. Unfortunately this space/event is not equipped for young children ages 2-12 (infants ok) or pets (except for legitimate service animals) - thank you for understanding! This event is limited to 100 participants, so we recommend signing up asap!
ACCOMMODATIONS: BYO tent, camper van, or RV. There are restrooms with flush toilets and spring drinking water on site, as well as electrical outlets for inflating air mattresses.
WHAT/COST: Ticket prices include your campsite, all meals for your selected length of stay (veggie/vegan and gluten-free options will be available), event liability insurance, and optional attendance at several activities throughout the weekend (exact lineup of activities TBD but will include options like beer and honey/cheese tastings, hiking, yoga, monastery tour, nighttime campfires and storytelling, hot tubbing, etc.). No charge for infants under 2; children ages 13-17 can attend at a cost of $25 for all or part of the weekend.
Sorry, no refunds unless the event is canceled due to extreme weather, fires, or rock slides. If you have a change of plans and can no longer attend, please consider your purchase a donation to NorCalPCA, give your ticket to another RPCV, and/or let us know so that we can make other arrangements.
